Year 6 Maths

Mrs Greaves and her maths group have been investigating how to draw shapes using rulers and protractors. Today we developed our skills to draw nets of 3D shapes. As you can see, following instructions carefully produces good results!

The children were confident about scaling dimensions down even producing this tiny pyramid.

Another important piece of learning was how to calculate the angles in regular shapes. The children now know that n - 2 X 180 will give the total of all internal angles and to find the size of one angle, they divide by n. N represents the number of sides in a shape.
